Let’s continue with the KK+ Technical resources, with a versatile combination, that can be developed to fit each judoka’s individual style. This week we focus on setting up with our feet: Kouchi-Gari into Morote Seoi-Nage.
The secret to getting any combination to work is making the first technique realistic enough to provoke a reaction. The Kouchi-Gari needs to threaten sufficiently.
The goal of the Kouchi-Gari is two-fold.
First, it opens up a space to attack.
Second, it gets a reaction, making uke stumble backwards. The moment to attack however comes a split second later as uke attempts to regain their position and come forwards onto the morote-seoi-nage.
This combination features in the Learn 20 Judo Combinations, Advanced Judo Book which can be bought on amazon. More info here.
