Hi! This week’s technical resource - a turnover, one of my personal favourites, that I learnt from Karen Briggs (four times world champion), who would also use it to set up into sangaku-jime.
But here … a junior version: The Wrist Grab
A word from Nik
In groundwork, getting a grip, is as important as in standing judo, but sometimes it’s not easy. Uke clamps down tightly, and there are no openings. In this situation, the Wrist Grab is great option. To start it, you just need that initial grab on the wrist.
Bump uke from behind to create a small space. As they react, slip your hand in and grab the wrist.
