Let’s continue with the weekly judo resources, and today we look at a very useful hold down: Uki Gatame.
For those of you on KK+ don’t forget you can access all previous techniques in the Teach Technique section. Previous holds include: Tate-Shiho-Gatame and Yoko-Shiho-Gatame to name two - there are more!

Uki Gatame is a great transition hold down.
For older, advanced judoka there is the switch into juji-gatame. As uke attempts to roll away, they will leave their arm undefended, allowing the armlock.
For younger judoka, it is a great movement drill, as they learn to move smoothly from Uki Gatame into Tate-Shiho-Gatame and back up into Uki Gatame.
