How do you turn someone over when they defend by going flat on their stomach?
This defence crops up a lot, but it’s a weak defence and one you can easily bypass with the Step Over.
As tori steps over make sure they keep their original grip on the arm all the way through the technique.
Step over first with one leg, then bring the second leg over CAREFULLY, placing it over the back of uke’s leg so they can’t grab it and force a toketa.
Still maintaining the original grip, sit through into a Kesa-Gatame and walk your legs around towards uke’s head to tighten the hold further.
