Hello! And thank you for being here. I hope all is well with you.
Let’s continue with the weekly judo resources, and this time we’re back to basics, with a throw for all levels, and especially a good one for beginners: O-Goshi
A word from Nik
O-Goshi is a good throw to teach beginners and intermediates because it allows control. Tori can help uke fall, controlling the finish, lowering their partner towards the mat.
When ready to step it up a level, try the drill, O-Goshi v O-Goshi. Both judoka attack with O-Goshi, alternately slipping their hips across their partner, with the person being attacked avoiding the throw by jumping around. Eventually, one judoka or the other will catch their partner with the perfect O-Goshi.
