Kesa Gatame (4 Skills)
Developing Kesa-Gatame skills, 4 certificates to use to motivate learning.
Hi! Nik Fairbrother here with this week’s Koka Kids Judo Coaching Resources. At the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, I won the Olympic silver medal. A year later, I achieved my life long ambition of becoming a world judo champion.
Now, I publish books for kids who love judo and supply coaching material to judo coaches all over the world through the KK+ Library. You can receive these resources by taking out a paid monthly or annual subscription. Thank you, if you have!
Onto today’s resources …
Kesa Gatame
Today, I have six resources for you, to support coaching of Kesa-Gatame and encourage progression from learning the basic hold to more advanced skills like being able to turn over into the osaekomi, or/ and throw and move into the hold down.
Below, you’ll find four Kesa Gatame certificates to give out as your judoka achieve:
Level 1: Basic Hold Down
Level 2: Able to Escape from Kesa-Gatame
Level 3: Able to do a Turnover into Kesa-Gatame
Level 4: Able to Throw and hold with Kesa-Gatame
And two task-sheets. One of the task sheets, has suggestions of different skills that judoka can tick off at each level, the other has been left blank for you to add in your own requirements.
