Throw of the Month: Ippon-seoi-nage

Launching our month of ippon-seoi-nage mastery with two useful resources:

Both resources have QR codes, connecting to the I-DOJO animations. Scan, and see the techniques come to life!

1. Technique Poster - Step-by-step guide featuring ippon-seoi-nage and a ko-uchi-gari combination. There are two QR Codes; the first shows the basic throw, the second the combination.

2. Study Worksheet - An illustrated study sheet with spaces for judoka to write down key learning points from class. Also with a QR Code (top right) to remind judoka of the basic technique.

📥 Download both now to kickstart this technique in your dojo! (scroll to end to download)

What’s coming up?

Over the next month, we will continue exploring ippon-seoi-nage. Each Monday, I’ll be sending you tips, drills and more resources for this technique.

Coming your way:

🥋 Koka DRILLS: A fun ippon-seoi-nage drill to practice body alignment and positioning.

🥋🥋 Koka COMBINATIONS: Combinations around ippon-seoi-nage, developing range of attack and building judoka’s repertoire.

🥋🥋🥋 Koka CERTIFICATES: Achievement certificates, marking the progress made and giving the judoka something tangible to keep and collect.

Ways to use the resources

Dojo Poster

- Display prominently and use as a reminder of the monthly focus technique

- Let judoka know they can scan QR codes to watch two animations before or after class.

- Students can replay the animations as many times as needed to visualise and rehearse the technique.

Take-Home Worksheets

- Assign "judo homework" giving out these worksheets for the judoka to do at home.

- Get your judoka to write down key points they remember from class.

- Involve the parents in their child's judo journey
